hurricane ikeThe hurricane was reported to be the third most destructive hurricane to ever hit land in the US, reaching 5.6 on the Integrated Kinetic Energy scale, which has a scale from 1 to 6, with 6 meaning the highest destructive potential. It caused devastation across the majority of southeast Texas, which had already sustained considerable damage as a result of Hurricane Rita in 2005.

Many areas were completely devastated with schools and public amenities closed indefinitely and many people having to be displaced into surrounding areas which had electricity and provisions.

Against this depressing backdrop, the donation of to schools and students was an extremely welcome one, proven by the fact that all the schools offered the resource used it during their free period. The children enjoyed the bright, colorful, humorous activities. Teachers and parents were relieved that their children had a resource that would enable their children to continue to learn even in the difficult circumstances they were presented with, be that remotely via their Homework access or in the classrooms that were still useable.

“It was great to be able to do what we could for these schools and students and we’re really heartened by the fact that was able to bring some light relief when needed the most. Our Homework was a gift to many schools that students couldn’t attend and just goes to show how flexible is”, said Matt Kwak, Vice President of Inc.
